Macquarie has an enviable reputation for research and teaching excellence. One hundred per cent of our research is rated at world standard or above; we’re ranked among the top 10 universities in Australia in many research disciplines; and three of our subjects are ranked among the top 50 globally and six among the top 100.

A proud tradition of innovating

Macquarie has a robust record of innovation. We pioneered the technology that underpins wi-fi, developed the first synthetic funnel-web spider antivenom and designed a sterilisation
technique to control fruit fly populations and strengthen Australian biosecurity. Today, we’re focused on finding cures for motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
